I am a compassionate, skilled and diligent self-starter and my professional and educational backgrounds have prepared me for continual growth in the legal field. I have earned significant legal experience as a solo attorney, senior research attorney, and administrative skills as the Administrative General Counsel at the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal, as a paralegal/associate at Spears and Spears law firm in New Orleans, and through my tenure as a volunteer attorney at the Pro Bono Project, and participation in the Louisiana State Bar Association's Lawyers in Libraries program. I also worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Orleans Parish. Most recently, I have been engaged as a Deputy General Counsel in the private corporate sector where part of my time is spent as an administrative hearing officer.
While working closely with Louisiana appeals court judges, I conducted extensive and independent research of civil, criminal, and administrative matters, interpreted local, state, and federal laws, and prepared bench memoranda, opinions, orders, and writ dispositions on a wide range of legal issues. I have reviewed and analyzed applications for rehearing and miscellaneous supervisory writ applications and various motions pertaining to both civil and criminal matters. I have drafted more than 300 legal opinions and recommendations.
I have experience in family law, civil litigation, personal injury, education law, workers' compensation, employment law, family and commercial dispute resolution, insurance defense, estate planning, business entity formation, business/employment contract review, and contract disputes.
I am a licensed notary and I draft appellate briefs on a contract basis.
